Meet your Instructor

My name is Zachary Smith, and my journey in martial arts and self-defense began at the age of 12. Over the years, I have trained in Japanese Judo, Jujitsu, Karate, Aikido, and Taekwondo, eventually specializing in Boxing, Muay Thai, and CKM (Combat Krav Maga). My passion for these disciplines grew as I discovered their practical applications and the physical and mental strength they build.

In Boxing and Muay Thai, I initially trained for fitness and skill, with no intention of competing. However, my coach recognized my potential, and after earning a 14-0 undefeated record in the ring, I decided to pursue my Olympic Boxing certifications along with personal training qualifications. During this time, I also competed in CKM, earning two gold medals at separate competitions.

As much as I enjoyed competing, my true passion lies in teaching. For the past 16 years, I have been instructing CKM and helping others develop both practical self-defense skills and confidence. Seeing my students grow and achieve their goals is what drives me as a coach. There’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing the excitement when a student finally masters a technique they’ve been practicing for weeks.

Many of my students have shared that my teaching style is approachable and effective, which I credit to my mother—a high school teacher who always connected with her students in meaningful ways. I strive to create an environment that is welcoming, ego-free, and focused on mutual growth, where everyone feels supported in their journey.

For students new to combat sports, I often hear how the experience exceeds their expectations. They find an uplifting community, where everyone works together to improve and build skills that not only enhance fitness but also instill confidence and self-protection.

Helping others grow and seeing their progress is what inspires me every day, and I am committed to fostering an environment where anyone can thrive and succeed.
